●If we were to say that Kobe has been a better post up player his whole career than MJ, its because MJ was always so explosive and quick that it was more advantageous for him not to simply rely on post moves. He still ended up with a high percentage mid to short range shot, but during the process his lack of reliance on posting up allowed him better opportunities to get a layup or dunk if the defender made an error. Being physically stronger doesn't equate to being better.
●Jordan did end a good number of his shots with a layup and a dunk, but his explosiveness also also meant that defenders were forced to play off him more than they otherwise did. If you look at older highlights, particularly those like the ones put up by undisputedgoldlion, you see that yes, he had his share of layups and dunks, but at least half if not more are in the ft extended area. Because defenders were forced to play off him some, he made so many easy pullup and curls etc.
●the reason why he had such a good fg% is because he didnt take as many threes as kobe or other perimeter players do if he shot as many threes as kobe did with his percentage what would his fg% have been? much lower than it was numbers dont always tell the whole story. just because jordan was the best player on a bad team early in his career doesnt mean he was a better scorer just that he played more minutes and took many more shots than kobe did.
●the reason why he had such a good fg% and just because he started in the mid range and finshed with a layup or dunk doesnt mean it was a mid range shot. kobe is much better on the low block and as a post up player than jordan ever was even late in his career when jordan got better as a post up player but kobe's been a good post up player his whole career. Also i think kobe now in the last couple of years is physically stronger than jordan ever was just compare their body physique and bodyweight
