●Hey I did this fix but when I put it back together I forgot to 'cook' the paste. So I turned on the Xbox and it worked for a bit, but then said there was an E74 Error, do you guys have any ideas what I could do? I'm cooking it now and I'ma let it cool off, but I doubt it'll work.

●no it wont work your gpu is dieing(or if your lucky like me its only the solder points) just unlpug the fan and lelt it run till it turns its self off BUT TAKE THE CASE OFF so it vents a little bit this will re sauter it or re solder it

●The only reason RROD Happens is because the GPU's solder and the thermal paste. Microsoft used very cheap thermal paste that didn't help that much, underneath the GPU is lead free solder, this was also very cheap and lead free didn't stick to the board very well and was brittle. If you want a permenant fix, your going to have to replace the thermal paste with something like Arctic Silver then if your going to have to reball the xbox's GPU :( You have to be skilled for a reball.

●if you fix it add some extra cooling to the top of the case
●its not always hardware fault errors but in some cases it is and if there is a hardware error your basically screwed

●I thought the E74 Error was a hardware fault error... I haven't had this particular issue but a few ppl I know, very reliable, said that that particular error has do to with the GPU itself... the only real perm fix is to replace the GPU. This is what I was told so i'm not 100% sure seeing how i've never had this issue nor has anyone that I know that has had 360's. Me and my friends all have our 1st gen 360 pro's with 120GB HD's and the worst we've gotten was overheating..

●I have a question. I have the E74 error. A friend of mine lets me have his xbox. Can this problem be fixed permanently if I use the spare parts from my friend's xbox and use it on my own? The only difference is that my Xbox is an old Elite model and my friend's probably an Arcade model. Would the spare parts still work?

●@DudeManRife when u took of the peice sorry blank on what its called he mentioned about the thermal glue, he used artic silver 5 which is highly recomended and what u do with that is u put a dab of that on the chip then when u put the screws back on and start up the xbox and it starts to get hot that thermal glue when then start to thicken to the chip and make a bond which will help ypur chances because xbox's stranderd thermal glue only works for about a year before it goes bad so applying new
