I casually dropped a sandbag onto the fuse instead of placing it gently on top of the fuse and my Squadleader had a shit fit. When you handle explosives regularly, it's easy to get complacent. =)

●Make sure you push the little latch down that is behind the safety, push it fairly hard it should click down a little. it should Look Like a small flat plate with a hooked part on the front, this latches on to the front cover and it pushed up from underneath, the safety sits in a slot towards the top / back. It takes a some getting used to but

●I'd gladly take your advice, but I'd rather have you wear a face mask and neck guard in the middle of a savanna in plain summer for three days so that I can see how that works. Wearing "proper" masks and neckguards is solving a problem that is not there. It only gives assholes a reason to behave like assholes because it gives a sense of security. Facemasks are a pain and so are neckguards, and they aren't necessary at all if people follow the law, like they should.

●It only fires blanks, that's true. Law specifies our replicas can't go over 1,3j unlike in the US. People said "Oh, but you know, when I'm sniping I only shoot at people beyond X meters, so I don't follow that law". What happened? People got "sniped" and ended up having to squeeze BBs from their faces. One guy almost died because his neck was swelling. We don't use homemade smoke bombs because of fires. I trust my equipment. I don't know you, I don't trust yours.

●I can't remember where, probably ordered from an online store in Hong Kong, approx £50. Just do a search on google and it should give you some idea. The alarm mines are from a supplier in the uk but you might be able to get some on ebay.

If you used it just for show in a demonstration I would have no problem but that thing, no matter how safe, would lead me into asking the organization to remove them from the game. If they said it was OK, I'd leave. And no, nobody thinks you can own and detonate real claymores in UK.

The target, Punta Patilla Airport's tower, is in the background, unreachable because of 2 snipers & a well protected Mini-Gun, which had found 3 of the soldiers, including the Platoon Sergeant, being myself.

●A little more info on the Go-Go's armaments. All the ones I saw were armed with 5 - 50 cal. machine guns, 2 - 20mm cannons, 2 - 19 round 2.75" rocket pods, and a 40mm belt fed grenade launcher. They were flying arsenals, but also bullet magnets. I believe only one of their aircraft survived the VN war, the rest being lost to gunfire and accidents. The surviving aircraft, "Easy Money", I believe is on static display in Ala.

●With the C-130 converted to a gunship role in the Spectre/Spooky, this does seem like a great idea. A massive armament on a massive helicopter. Employed properly, it wouldn`t have to worry much about ground fire but the options for armament, even back in the 60`s were and are very broad.

●I saw these in action when I flew for the 1st Cav. They were awesome! Sadly, I was also an eyewitness to the "Co$t of Living" accident on 5/5/67. One of the best nicknames I ever saw on an aircraft was a Guns a Go-Go ship named "Birth Control". I have a picture of it on my desk. It still cracks me up. :-)

●Really. A claymore costs around $250. Compared to all the other equipment and weapons we have and use, that is very cheap. As said, we were at a range where we were practicing the fundamentals of employing and detonating claymores, which we did and we had a good time doing it. It's no different than if we were at an AT-4 range or a Javelin range which cost $1480 and $165,000 respectively, shooting at debris like old wash machines or tanks. The training was effective.

The claymore could have been pointed at nothing or we could have had a bit more fun with it and we blew something up that was on the range. We were exactly within the limits of our instructions and there was both a senior NCO and a higher ranking officer at the range with us. Nice try though.

Its suppose to be in a position in the no mans land, or the field in front of your base in order to know where it is. If you have to put it in a door way then that some major CQC there going on.
