●My mothers's brother, my uncle Wayne Ryan was killed on Iwo Jima, on the third day of fighting. My mother is 89 now, and not doing to well these days, but she always loved this movie. In some of the actual battle footage they show in this movie, she would always try to see if she could somehow see my uncle Wayne in the footage. Some of the men that actually raised the flag on Iwo, were used as extras in this movie and are again raising thr flag at the end of the movie. We should never forget.

●Actually.....it was Res. Capt. Paul Douglas, a Congressman, that saved the Corps from Harry Truman. He secured the votes to stop the legislation. Truman was so hated by the Corps that landings in Korea at Wolmi-Do and Inchon had Marine graffitti painted on the sides of many amtracs. This movie was the 1949 celebration of the 1947 saving of the Corps. Semper Fi !
