A black hole is basically created when a star "collapse on itself" think of it as a star turning itself inside out because of gravity. When this happens it creates a black hole, just think of it as a rip in space (but it isn't really, so don't call it that) It's like space is water and when a star dies it creates another drainage pipe. What sucks things in is gravity, because the black hole is very big.
