●Love this piece- it is extremely hard to pull off too. Doesn't anybody notice that the orchestra doesn't take Barenboim's tempo or follow him though? They deliberately do it too- something of a practical joke on Barenboim (a conductor known to disregard classical tempo markings) and an homage to Georg Solti. You can definitely see it on his face at 4:10 and a little on his face in the beginning after the orchestra comes in a beat late twice

●I remember hearing this for the first time when I was 12 years old. My dad played it in the car on a beautiful summers day while we drove through the Kent countryside to watch a local cricket game. I can still see the fields and the trees glowing in the sun and still remember feeling proud of our country. Its such an important memory to me. Everytime I hear it, It just blows me away. I love all kinds of music but this is just the greatest.
