●Actually, with context clues you can assess that the clock is the "blunt instrument" used to bludgeon the man, hence the detective believing 3:33 to be the time of the murder. The clock was guessedly broken when used as a weapon.

The driver of the first times slow or even stop because they think that there is a child, but gradually you get used to drawing and will ignore it, especially if it is in other places. ●Actually that had nothing to do with it. The test was on human perception filter and how the mind absorbes millions of bits of information but the conscious mind can only hand several hundred, so it filters out what you are'nt consciously focusing on.
