●Large Lithium Ion Batteries are still very expensive. 50 Km is more then enough for many people`s daily shopping and travel needs. At longer distances it just switches to the build in diesel engine. So this car is a good alternative between keeping down cost of batteries and gas use. Yet allowing for long range driving when ever needed. With the fast rising gas prices it`s a much needed option. We will see range increases as the technology develops.

●Exciting. Range will increase as the technology develops. We really need to go electric to become energy independent from nations like Russia, Saudi-Arabia, Iran and others. Giving money to nations you are mostly in disagreement with is a big mistake. Also we need to go electric to stop the rising prices that are starting to slow us down.

●Have a look at a drag race filmed, it will also look like there is a down or up sloping road. As you can se 0:40 it look like a uphill but it's not. It's the camera lens fault.

●Our 3 year old Renault Kangoo can do 1000+ before refueling, and it's not even a hybrid. So...nothing special. Still love Volvo though :)

●I really like this car and generally Volvo cars, but technologically it's not a great achievement to run 1000 km before refuelling. A Fiat Brava from 2001 with 2 litre Turbo Diesel Engine, the JTD, can run more than 1000 km with one tank. Besides this, the Fiat doesn't have any electric motor or super aerodynamic body. So, where's the great evolution?

Should you need more power just switch to power mode and enjoy a total of 285 hp as well as 640 newton meter torque. From 0 to 100 km/h in 6,2 secondes... I can highly recommend a test drive. ●@JD194 No, The three point belt was developed by Nils Bohlin, a Volvo engineer. But Volvo did not charge patent on it, It allowed any manufacturer to use the system.
●No doubt Volvo is the safest car..still made by humans. Apart from that brake system, the steering shakes and the seatbelt pulls you against the sit to alert you.
●Mercedes did actually invent the 3-point seatbelt but they just never took credit for it. Volvo did however.

I love the r-design C30! if i was to own a volvo myself, it would be one of them! :') but i wanna work in motor vehicle, so hopefully i can change all this! haha :')
●Also, I'm pretty disappointed to hear the V40 won't be sold in the US. 1st it was the Ford Focus ST/RS, now it's a Volvo that resembles something as cool as the VW Scirocco.
●Yeah I drive a 1st generation C30 R-design and I dunno what it is about the Volvo designers, but the front ends always seem to disappoint compared to the rest. Poorly designed front end on the C30, then they give it a facelift and they try to make it look like a japanese car. Same with all their new models. I think the only new Volvo that has a decent front end is the new XC60. I think they were onto something with the slanting headlights, they just don't flow well the the rest of the car.
