Danny Perasa and his wife, Annie, came to StoryCorps to recount their twenty-seven-year romance. As they remember their life together from their first date to Danny's final days with terminal cancer,
●I have watched this video so many times.. it always makes me choke up!
●Not at all :) It showed me that love is real and these people had it :)
●Tears were shed.
●crap. Im watching this again and started crying before it even began
●.....i fucking lost...i need to go lay down
●i almost died from all the sadnes
●hate
●It's sad that only few people find their true love...but at the same time, I'm happy that true love still exists in the world that I live in.
●I'm at the age where I say screw getting married, screw love. I don't need it. But watching this makes me think: I really, honestly want this.
●love
●dude... this made it rain in my eyes.
●That is exactly why I cried though. Their love was so true, the kind that everyone dreams of, and seeing it shine even brighter at such a tough time makes me cry with an overwhelming hopefulness.
●honest, genuine love
●Today is my birthday. I promised myself that I wouldn't let anything get me down like I usually do. All I've been asking for is for someone to want to be with me. This moved me to tears. This video is one of the most beautiful videos that I have ever seen. I think everyone dreams of a relationship like Danny and Annie had. They were soulmates, lovers, and best friends. I can't wait to find my "Danny".
●Beautiful thank you
●The ending got me a little.
●This was INCREDIBLY hard to masturbate to.
●I was fine until she said she wanted to walk out with him alone like she did on their wedding day. Broke my heart.
●what's the dirty 4 letter word?
●4,5,6 I just BALLED my eyes out... I can't go on.
●Oh god, how will her life be after his death... I always hope so very much that I'll die before my hubby when the time is up... it's okay to be alone. But when you're old and used to live *together* your whole life, than that's a completely different matter...
●Life Insurance commercial was worse than Oden in my opinion.
●I feel like this'd be sadder if the animation didn't look so cute. Still, pretty sad.
●this this is wear the tears finally ran down my face like the rain on a window
●Each time I see this, it never fails to move me to tears. Romantic things are all well and fine, but I want a LOVE like Danny and Annie had. God bless them both.

Kay Wang was a strong-willed grandmother who was reluctantly taken to a StoryCorps booth by her son and granddaughter. Though Kay resisted, she still had stories to tell—from disobeying her mother and
●I knew an elderly woman so much like her. I only knew her for a year or two but I will never forget her. I miss her so much.
●But only in a polite way of course - you'll notice he won her over by his intellect in the end, not the constant marriage proposals.

●There should be more people around to tell stories, even if it means talking on Youtube.....
●:( Was finally laughing from one of these and then boom... tears again. These are so moving.

●I'm also the same. I was actually montiered from birth to age 2 for being autistic and possibly aspergers for my behavior (not talking, very introverted, too independent), but they later diagnosed me as not, Despite this, I still sturrgle, and though it would shock most people to know I'm very introverted, the people that know me best know I sturggle every minute in social situations. But I'm learning and gotten really good, so I guess I'm doing pretty good
●this one is always my favorite. I don't have aspergers, but I am socially akward still, i just do a really good job of hiding it through a tremendous starin that still isn't always full proof and gets me wierd stares. I'm not stupid, I'm actually really smart. I've admitted this to my mom, and she told me that she understnads and that she loves me regardless. she'll explain things to me that i may not undertsnad like this mom is doing, so i do really love seeing this happening for someone else.
●wow this boy is really smart...wow i think he's even smarter than me...good shit little guy.
●Absolutely loved finding his updated story on their website. :)
●Yeah. It's because he was born in the U.K. and somehow his Aspergers gave him his accent.
●Hey guys - I just checked storycorps's website, and apparently, Josh is 18 now and is away at college. He and his mother did a second session together, and it's absolutely lovely.
●beautiful. Does the boy have a British accent?
●Adding on to my previous comment I feel like social skills can be learned, just like art skills or math skill. Sure genetics and environment may make it easier or harder to learn them but I believe that everyone has the option to learn them if they truly want to. I believe that you have the potential to be whoever YOU want to be, even if your body makes it hard for you.
●This is interesting. I was very much similar to this child when I was younger. (he even has the same name as me) He seems very introverted and analytical and has a hard time socializing. I would read ALL the time and only made a few friends. I believe that I could have easily been diagnosed with Aspergers at that age but I never was. Instead, I consciously taught myself to be social. I learned from those around me and added ESTP bits to my INTP personality and I'm now a blend of both.
●"i was the one who made you a parent" :)
●people with Asperger's are usely more smarter then people with classic Autism i have Asperger's just say depresson is a real issue

●Wait... You're a girl and have Aspergers? Strange, in females, the odds of Aspergers are very slim. I have it also, so please don't take my comment to offense, for this is not ever my intention.
●Tengo síndrome de Asperger también
●I also have asbergers
●Wow, she's a great mom, she has the perfect answer to everything.
●Lol that's a girl thing so cute!
●my brother has asbergers syndrome as well.
●and it also helps if he explains to new people he meets his condition so they can understand- so they dont think he is just mean/ weird/ or a little know it all. cause A LOT of people do not know what aspergers is.and do not understand, and what you say to him would not be meaningless. and all you can do is be there when he is sad, and assure him believe that people WILL like him. it make take time- it did for me, but it happened. and it will happen for him too.
●all i can honestly say is assure him that he is normal for a person with aspergers. i always felt like everything i said and did was not normal, but it was normal for ME and other people who have aspergers. as he gets older his social skills will improve- i am 26 and i still have trouble interacting with people. as he gets older he WILL find people who like him, and assure him that it will happen. i only have a few friends but they are good friends who understand.
●My little brother is going through this too.Recently he told my mom "I am never going to fit in. No one is ever going to like me." Do you think, as someone who has gone through this yourself, that there is anything I might be able to do for him? I feel like, since I do not have Aspergers that anything I say to him is meaningless...
●I love this kid

●I'm not saying good can or will come from it. I'm just saying don't take someone hope away.
●Because it can sometimes be selfish saying good can come from someones misery, just to make themselves feel happier.
●The videos on this channel have been making me think... deep thoughts. You know what I was going to do today? Watch some Tobuscus, play some video games, and masturbate to porn. ●No point in false hope when there's real hope. People want to believe it's all "for" something? Well it is. Things like this don't happen for a reason, but there is something we can take from it. War is a plague - Avoid it at all costs. Claiming it all works out fine doesn't enforce that lesson that humanity needs to learn
●It's true that there are horrible things in the world and it is simply that they are horrible. But if you can't believe it's for something or that there can be a happy ending then you've lost hope. Hope may be false in the end, but hope is literally all some people have. Why take their hope? Let them have it.

●Yep, exactly, you said it right. There are those who cheer when it's over, but no war can have a totally unspoiled victory. Even the winners carry scars, like this poor man.
●You made a very, very good point there. The people at war today are forced to kill enemies; its the worst torture you can ever do. When I was at my kiddie ages, I thought war was no big deal, just go "Bang bang" to the enemy. I saw movies that had no emotion after another person died. Now, I am learning that war isn't a game; I knew that. But, I didn't know what effect happens to the person that kills another. I keep asking myself "Why can't we have peace instead of war?" Sad... :(
●In war, they make you suffer by forcing you to kill another human being.
●I know, exactly my point. That's just how horrible it was. My quarrel is with those who say "I'm sure he met the man he killed in heaven and everything was alright" Because then we don't learn anything from this. It was a horrible thing that happened, that haunted that man forever, and it doesn't have a happy ending. That's what I was trying to say in my last post. And those who try to "fix" it are the ones belittling it.
●To think he had to do this horrible thing for his country is unforgivable.

●This was the only video that made me cry hysterically because I know how it feels to be in a young age to see how your parents fight a lot. Then be divorced. But what made me cry more about this video is that seeing your mom cry in a telephone call and knowing something went wrong. But later discovering that your dad died. Later you see that your mom and dad loved each other all along. ♥

The great oral historian Studs Terkel was an inspiration to StoryCorps, and he was also an early participant in the project. In this animated short, he speaks out on what has been lost in modern life
●Fantastic. I wish I could meet him.
●Gets me every time. Get goosebumps just from listening to this guy...
●I would have laughed.
●I think these stories, along with the funny illustrations that go with them, are probably some of the best stories in the world. Some of them are so insparational and heartwarming that you have an urge to hear more and that's what I love about them. They're brief but they leave something inside you that you can't find anywhere else and their lessons that I try to keep close to my heart. This man, in particular, is someone I would definately like to sit down with just to listen to him talk.
●I'm only eleven years old and I watch these all the time. I just think that these stories are so sad, romantic, and inspiring that it makes me annoyed that I can't hear these kinds of things more often, y'know?Much better than Nicki Minaj music videos and that sort of dumb crap in my opinion.
●in the words of the 9gaggers, both you and ihaveawebshow have restored my faith in humanity. Seriously, I am so glad that young people like you that just got into your teens exist :)
●I'm 13 and I watch things like this a lot. I'm not a fan of things that have no benefit to me educationally or emotionally. This channel has stories that make me smile, laugh, and sob. It's so beautiful how they do this.
●You're 15? We need more teens like you in the world. I am not kidding. Other teens would just watch Bieber music videos or other things, but you are here watching StoryCorps. Kudos to you :)
●Meh. People on trains can be annoying. Sometimes you just want to get to where you're going >_>
●I really enjoy the animation on this one, too.
●More people should listen and watch these instead of things like Charlie the Unicorn. StoryCorps recordings make me laugh, cry, smile, feel nostalgia, CONNECT to their stories!! I'm 15 years old and these stories just fascinate me to no avail. THIS is what the people of my generation should hear and reflect upon! (And then they should pull up their pants

●AWESOME, thank you very much for this. Its nice to see all of the humans still here on youtube commenting about the greatness of this video. If you dislike this or leave a negative comment, you are either a. too young to understand, or b. one of the oppressors in our govt./police force.

●what the hell, dude. do u you hate your grandparents too? people over the age of 60 form a significant portion of the important people in my life. i really, really hope you're a troll.
●Its a reference to the book "1984" by George orwell. Its about hes vission of a possible future, where people are not individuals, and the state has full controll over the population by fear and information controll. Its probebly where the book, and later film, "V for vendeta" got its inspiration. I recomend reading "1984", or listen to it as a audiobook if you find this intreeging.... Im rambeling. TL;DR Its a book.

Also: this man is a very important human being and respectable. Lots of books and stuff. And as far as I can see, someone who dedicates his time to uploading mincraft videos shouldnt critizice like that another human being. Cheers.

●I agree 100% with Janeana Garofalo.
●Garofalo seems to be a very angry and hateful person. I wonder if her childhood was sad and troubled.
●I do not assume every Obama critic is a racist. I assume some of Obama's critics are racist. I assume that many of Obama's critics who suspect him of being muslim because of his name and his racial heritage to be racists. A critic who does not care about Obama's religion or heritage but rather about his actual policies is not a racist. Obama's religion has absolutely no bearing on his ability to lead. None.
●No, I'm pointing out that you're a hypocrite because you assume that all Muhammadans follow Islamic law this is profiling just like you assume that Obama critics are racist.
●"Islamic law bans the consumption, manufacturing and trading of alcohol in any form." Yeah Im profiling. There are 11 countries in the world that prohibit alcohol they are all muslim... coincidence? Profiling? Your argument is that I am a hypocrite for pointing out that absolutely none of Obama's behaviour makes him a practicing muslim? Your argument is that you don't have to practice Islam to be a muslim?
●No, it's profiling. Anyone COULD consume alcohol etc. You are assuming that because it is haram that Muhammadans don't do it while many of them do. You are profiling an entire group of people by practices and beliefs that many of them don't adhere to thereby excluding those who don't adhere from Islam, the same as profiling people who question Obama as racist. You can't call people out on profiling without profiling yourself and that makes you either stupid or a hypocrite, maybe both.
●You and Rosie probably bumped doughnuts after the show. You both are the two biggest bull dikes there are. Go take a gun, put it in your mouth, and pull the trigger. If that doesn't work, hang a steak around your neck and jump into to bear exhibit at your local zoo. FUCKING DIKES!!!!!!
●Hasselbeck is hot, nice boobs, but dumber than a box of rocks.
●Go look up "When a Woman Hugged Me (Funny Story) By Sheikh Saeed Rageah" on youtube before you reply. It is a funny story.
●That is not profiling. That is having an extremely basic understanding of the Muslim faith. That men can not touch women that are not in their family is in the Quran. It is a principle fundamental to their faith. Saying someone is muslim because of their name and skin tone is profiling. Understanding that a name and race do not determine a person's beliefs is good common sense and that is what I practice.
●"If he was a muslim he could not consume alcohol or even shake the hand of a woman not in his family " That is profiling. Hypocrite.
●"Look at his dad and his name, does "Barack Obama" sound like a typical christian name?" That doesn't sound like racial profiling to you? If he was a muslim he could not consume alcohol or even shake the hand of a woman not in his family among other things. Ahmadienjad for example only bows to female heads of state- he does not shake their hands. I don't consider a bad christian to be christian or a bad muslim to be muslim. I was raised christian and that didn't stop me from being an atheist.
●Janeane has also been talking in her own asshole for a decade, as her head is as firmly planted there as EH's head is. She used to be funny. My wife refers to it as the "Tori Amos effect", basically Janeane has been listening to herself for so long that all she can do is quote herself ad nauseum because she thinks she sounds clever.
●You were doing well until "...or a racist."
●Jeanene and Rosie together, two lesbians no waiting?
●Well, this is not Japan or anywhere else. I can read fine, but that is not the point. Punctuation is very necessary for many reasons. I'm a dummy for not wanting a geriatric old fool and an Alaskan airhead running the country? You are an idiot.
●Umm, yeah? Because under this administration we haven't disarmed hundreds of nukes with the Russians? You dislike he has the finger on the button? Alrighty then...
●Hearing that Jesus loves you is very nice... Unless you're in a Mexican prison.
●Lets put it this way Palin is ten times the person Obama could ever hope to be he's nothing but a lying racist piece of excrement and the thought of him with his finger on the button scares the hell out of me
●Because punctuation is a waste of time if you need punctuation to read then you are a moron do they punctuate in japanese chinese indian german arabic hebrew and if memory serves me right old english didn't use punctuation do you speak in punctuation and you know how i know your a dummy you voted for Obama so shut your stupid piehole!!!!!!!!!!! theres your punctuation
●- please read a couple of sentences starting from Isaiah 40:22, BE HONEST with yourself and then compare that with what we know about the earth without trying to look for connections that are not evidently there - that is bias. Also: Read Genesis 1,2 also with an UNBIASED view, read it with the purpose of finding divine revalation and ask yourself whether you truly found it. If you are christians, I am sorry for upsetting you in advance.
●@eyelaffatyu Your comment was both humorous and ironic. What did the pot call the kettle again?
●I agree on the religious points, there is no proof god even exists
