●The Xbox version I played had no Journal, just inventory. The map came inside the game case and was pretty useless. Maybe there was a compass, I don't remember it though, and it's been 6 years since I sold it. Graphics may have been affected by the Xbox, but I still think it wasn't very good looking.

There is a map, you'll won't find it if you focus on the main quest, it's somewhere in a container and you can use it to see which town/village are connected to each other. (though no compass and you still have to find you way yourself) Hm... I haven't played this game since I got hooked up by Oblivion. (About 3-4 years already?) Maybe I was wrong about the map part.

Casuals like you complained about Morrowind not telling you where you should go and who you should be, so they added the map to cater to you. Morrowind was the last Elder Scrolls game that was truly an adventure, and truly a role-playing game in the purest sense.
●Ugh, you're bringing back bad memories mate. Morrowind? Tried starting to play it about 20 times. Each time I never got beyond level 5. No map, no compass, graphics that, while amazing at the time of release, did not endear myself to it, no clear plot-line from the get go, and I could never tell what I needed to do because there was no journal. Morrowind was the reason I skipped Oblivion, and nearly skipped Skyrim! I salute you for your staying on top of it, but I'm not getting it if remade.

●Oblivion was better, bethesda became asses and tried to tailor skyrim to appeal to the more general area of gamers and not the elder scrolls origin. Fans :( e.g no item durability, smaller world, not giving every character in the game interactive dialogue, far easier to navigate, easier dungeons (makes clear o'voyance pointless), stupid fancy menus.
