A worthy observation of Horowitz's style, yet that factor is just the key in some pieces, it added the jagged gnarl that made them epic and unique, and certainly better than if they did flow. Some pieces that Horowitz nailed with his style are not as good when played by other pianists because it sometimes sounds like their playing has been sandpapered, which is not always a good thing.

●I'm serious. Zimerman's technique is best ever! Horowitz' technique is not that good! Even Gould and Gulda had a better technique than Horowitz! That's fact!

●Horowitz technique is not phenomenal! Listen to both Zimerman and Horowitz at Liszt b minor sonata. The flows of Zimerman are amazing regular and the slow parts so lyrical. Horowitz technique there is very irregular and the slow parts don't shine ... Unfortunately Zimerman did only record the first two Rachmaninov Concertos (with Boston Symphony Orchestra under Seji Ozawa). They are truely great. And you can imagine what he could do with the other two Rachmaninov Concertos ...
