●I think Mr. Phipp's music theory and music history is spotty at best. The pentatonic scale dates back to ancient China and perhaps beyond. If you play Amazing Grace starting on C# you get the tune on the black keys. Start the tune on C, you get the tune on all white keys. Start the tune on E, you get the tunes on both black and white keys. The pentatonic scale is common to Asia, Celtic, Appalachian and Magyar cultures. It's been around forever.

●I think Mr. Phipp's music theory and music history is spotty at best. The pentatonic scale dates back to ancient China and perhaps beyond. If you play Amazing Grace starting on C# you get the tune on the black keys. Start the tune on C, you get the tune on all white keys. Start the tune on E, you get the tunes on both black and white keys. The pentatonic scale is common to Asia, Celtic, Appalachian and Magyar cultures. It's been around forever.
