I bought a PSP 1001 with updated firmware, dropped in a pandora battery, and BAM it installed the CFW. You never have to downgrade, it's all cracked these days.

You can downgrade a 3.55 to 3.41 with this method, but you cannot downgrade anything after version 3.55. If you're lucky, nothing at all will happen. You might be able to get 3.56+ to boot into service mode with this method, but service mode on newer than 3.55 is very different from the video because in that you cant exit service mode. Service mode on newer than 3.55 = broken ps3

If you update firmware & reset factory settings, firmware is same but configs & info stored is reset/erased.

●I have a few questions but before i say them I would like to say thank you so much for this method I am looking forward to jail breaking my ps3. 1: Will the downgrade work with an Ipod touch 4g? 2: Why will I lose blu ray movie playback capabilities and is there any way to avoid it and if i do lose it how do i get it back? 3: Will i be able to downgrade directly from 3.61 to 3.41? 4: Are there any more dangers of downgrading like being banned from PSN once you jailbreak or put in a cfw?
