●I have an iphone which iv had on 4.3 for a long time. I had it jailbreaked with Baseband 4.10.1. Yesterday I downloaded redsnow and the IOS 5.1 and upgrade to IOS 5.1 but reserved my baseband. Its very easy to do. So my baseband is still 4.10.1. My gevey sim still worked on this so now I have IOS 5.1 unlocked with a thai SIM. I haven't found a good enough Jailbreak yet for IOS 5.1 so its still unjailbreaked. So it does work if anyone has doubts.
●I've just updated my i4 from 4.2.1 (bb 03.10.01) to 5.0.1. Gevey works like a charm! If you jailbroke your device, check for saved SHSH blobs in Cydia (they're shown on the top of Cydia main page) in case you want to downgrade to 4.2.1.

●you can unlock using gevey sim, only if you preserve your baseband .. use iclarified blog to see how to jailbreak and upgrade to ios 5 and then use gevey sim to unlock
