●I love Hiromi, but this is kind of gibberish, self-indulgent and not very musical or rhythmic. There's no arc running through it. I am often entranced by her creativity and musical stroytelling, but this falls quite flat.

Make it an hour of focused daily practice and check back a few years later. For a number value, use 10 000 hours from Gladwell. But that won't get you to concert pianist level.

●I don't think it's worth it. It might be extremely fun to be able to play this well, but the lifestyle of a performing virtuoso probably isn't what most people would prefer. And I'd argue that you'd have to spend a lot more time practicing piano than you can possibly spend having sex or masturbating for several years in order to develop technique as good as hers. And the ability to do improv that well just is largely natural talent probably beyond most people's ability.

●after having played a lot of gigs with really odd meters, the one thing i can tell you is that not everybody is a mental mathematical freak like hiromi and can keep themselves stable like she does. oftentimes, when your bass player is rock solid, you're locking in with him the whole time. for example, with brad mehldau's trio work, often it seemed that jorge rossy and brad got caught up in their rhythmic motifs, and only larry grenadier was able to pull it all together in the end. it's great.
